A fun and purpose built Nursery for all the Children
Fieldside day nursery was founded in September 2001. It is a purpose built property situated in the quiet rural village of Great Heck.
The nursery offers 80 places to children between the ages of birth to 14 years.
The children are well looked after by qualified and experienced staff, Who all work hard to provide your child with a wide range of learning and play activities to keep the children stimulated. Their main aim is to make sure the children feel safe, happy and fulfilled while away from their parents and in our care. We provide for all their daily needs, food, play, exercise and love.
Daily life within the nursery is intertwined with The Early Years Foundation Stage. This is a government guidance and the frame work that Ofsted assess to, covering all aspects of a Childs welfare from birth to five. It includes all that the nursery and staff work towards in the care of your child. Helping children to stay safe,be healthly, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well-being.
The proprietor of Fieldside Day Nursery is Gail Hope , a qualified nurse with a BA Honours in Early Childhood Studies and many years experience of working with children in both clinical and community settings. She is the mother of two daughters. The initial aim was to provide a setting where she could feel happy to leave her own children while at work. With this is mind Gail and her husband decided to create a purpose built property. The result being Fieldside Day Nursery, which we hope will provide you and your child the right environment in which they will grow and develop.
The Nursery is situated within easy distance of the A645 and therefore accessible from the surrounding areas of Snaith, Rawcliffe, Camblesforth, Eggborough, Hensall, Gowdall, Pollington, Askern etc. We are based within 5 minutes of junction 34 of the M62
Fieldside Day Nursery has three rooms one for each age group Tiny Tots 0-2 yrs, Little Learners 18mnths- 3years, Foundation room 3yrs -5yrs. Each room is provides an environment to stimulate the learning of the children in each age group, as well as an area where they can relax or sleep.
The out of school children are having a purpose built log cabin built within the grounds of the Nursery, this will allow them the space to relax after a hard day at school.
Meals are cooked in the Nursery kitchen; the menu consists of home cooked food and attempts to encourage our children to try many different flavours. Ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, including fresh produce grown by the children.
The out side play areas are substantial as the Nursery is set in 5.5 acres of land. The children are encouraged to spend lots of time playing outside, this is aided by the fact the staff set up for the children to be able to free flow from inside to out to activities of their own choice.
Some of the areas include a very large covered sand pit where the children can take of their shoes and enjoy an adventure with their friends. The Woodland area where children go with their key worker and access the delights of wind ,water and various plants to help them understand their surroundings and senses.
Fieldside has a range of animals for the children to interact with including horses, donkeys, rabbits and guinea pigs
The children enjoy collecting the eggs daily from our free range chickens, they also delight in seeing the chicks as they hatch. We are very proud of George and Patrick our resident donkeys, the children ride, feed and help with their grooming and mucking out.
One outside area is our ”woodland school,” children will be able to go pond dipping, den building, work and eat and play in our woodland classroom. The children have helped to develop this area and will continue with many trees to plant. As this area develops the children will be able to build on skills including wood craft and fire as well as increasing their knowledge of bird and wildlife.
The rest of the area includes a large hay field where the children can run and let of steam or play hide and seek, fly a kite or embark on a “bear hunt” with their friends.
We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the learning and the fun that we believe your children need to enjoy the time they spend with us at Fieldside.
