Big Cats – better known as the Out of School Club – caters for children from 5 to 14 years. Big Cats has its own separate building situated in the private grounds of the Nursery and the children are cared for on a morning, evening and through the day during school holidays by experienced Nursery Nurses.

We offer pick up’s and drop off’s Monday to Friday at the local Primary Schools in the area, these include Hensall Primary, Snaith Primary, Pollington-cum-Balne Primary and Whitley and Eggborough Primary, and transport children via our mini bus and Nursery cars.

The breakfast club on a morning runs from 7.30am where the children are given the choice of cereal, fruit and/or toast accompanied by milk or water to drink before they are taken to school.  The after school club on an evening runs from as soon as we pick the children up, up until 6.30 pm. The children are offered a light tea in accordance with the weekly menu but we also cater for any dislikes/dietary requirements/allergies also.

The Out of School Club offers a range of clubs that take place on an evening including baking club (which is ran by our qualified cook), games club (mostly age appropriate board games) and quiz night. In the Summer time when we have light evenings we also offer a gardening club and a chance to carry out some pond dipping/mini beast hunting and we regularly have the bouncy slide blown up in the field area for the children to make use of. The clubs run alongside free choice which allows the children to choose whether they have a relax after a busy day at school on the comfy sofas or if they want they can take part in creative activities such as drawing, painting, or lego and small world play. Furthermore the children can also burn off that last bit of energy outside in the spacious outdoor area joining in with activities such as football, cricket, ring games or on the age appropriate climbing equipment and other outdoor equipment if they wish. We also offer a homework/reading club for those children who might not want to leave everything until they get home.

Throughout the school holidays Big Cats offers all of the above activities and clubs along with the occasional day trips out to places such as the sea side, Big Top, Tropical World, The National Railway Museum, cinema etc. Just like the rest of the Nursery, the children are treated as individuals and are given the freedom to decide for themselves how they spend their days at Fieldside, alongside the bit of structure the practitioners offer in order to make the days as fun and interesting as possible.
